Composition techniques are used to make shots better and to create interest. The main four are rule of thirds, framing, unusual angles, and leading lines. Rule of thirds is when the subject of the photo is in one of the outside thirds of an imaginary grid. Framing is when things around the subject blocks parts of the image to frame and draw focus to the subject. Unusual angles is exactly what it sounds like. It is when a photo is taken from an interesting or a "never before seen" angle. Leading lines is when natural lines in the photo lead to the subject.
